Adventure Leadership Program Overview

You can choose to go on one trip, or you can sign up for multiple trips that take place throughout the year. ALP is divided into three levels that correspond roughly with age. The stated age ranges are guidelines, as we recognize that youth mature at different rates.

We recognize that every teen develops at a different pace.  Accordingly, ALP is divided into three levels that correspond roughly with age.

  • Base Camp: Beginning level for ages 12 - 14 who do not have much experience in the outdoors or away from home.
  • Vista:  Intermediate level for ages 15 - 17 who have some experience away from home and some experience in the outdoors.
  • Summit:  Advanced level for ages 16 - 19 who have both outdoor experience and more experience traveling and being away from home.

You can call us at any time if you wish to discuss where your teen fits best.  After you register we will also contact you to make sure your teen is in the best place and to answer any questions you may have.

Provided below is a listing of trips and events according to level. These trips are designed as a progression of experiences, from beginner to advanced, but it is not a requirement that a teen has, for example, participated in Base Camp in order to be eligible for Vista.
